Intro
For this module, we're going to be animating an album cover on After Effects. I've experimented with After Effects in the past, and I wanted to use it for my final project last year however I found it way too time consuming to learn (and my PC could not handle it) so I took to tweening in Premiere Pro.
Ideas
I decided on the album cover from Mindless Self Indulgence, belonging to the album Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely Sexy. The cover was drawn by Jamie Hewlett, who went on to be the main art director for the band Gorillaz (just mentioning in case you (yes YOU in particular) didn't know)
I was thinking about using another MSI cover, which was Another Mindless Rip Off, however I figured that animating a humanoid figure would be easier or more straightforward, especially since it's one of my first times using After Effects.
Process
I couldn't find a version of the album cover which was high quality without a watermark on it, so I PAINSTAKINGLY removed it as well as removing the "Parental Advisory Explicit Content" label in the bottom left.
Then I began with separating things. I separated the background, the "Mindless Self Indulgence" text, then each of the characters then I began separating parts of the characters so I could animate these parts (as of writing I'm not finished yet but I'm guessing that we're not going to be animating everything next week anyway)
Because it doesn't want to display for some reason
